KOONDOOLA COMMUNITY HALL - BURBRIDGE AVENUE

        REPORT FROM THE CHAIR

[Thanks to Vern for providing me with a new and more comfortable chair.]

KOONDOOLA BUSSED UP!
Well it is good news once again on the bus front.  Those people who have been wanting a better bus route through Koondoola only had to get the right contacts and ask nicely.

Now it is not set in concrete yet but we may have a new 377 route which enters Butterworth from the south and turns LEFT onto Koondoola Avenue goes past the shops and then along Burbridge Avenue to the end where it joins the original route.  This has been suggested by Transperth but has yet to be approved by Path Transit.  Watch this space for further news.

Also Transperth has put out tendrs for mini busses and they "may" give us a peak hours service to Warwick train station going past the Koondoola Plaza to a terminus at Butterworth Park.  Great news for those going to the campuses at Joondalup.

CROSS YOUR FINGERS FOLKS!

Well, finally we have sorted out our dates for our meetings, and it will be the
second Tuesday of each month for the rest of this year at least!

At the next meeting we shall have Inspector Kim Richards O.I.C. of Warwick Police coming to give us a talk on "Safer W.A."., I think, which he is going to get off the ground, on the local level.

WE ARE GOING TO HAVE 3 BOOKLETS ON THE TABLE AT TEH ENTRANCE AT ALL THE MEETINGS:---

1) THINGS YOU WOULD LIKE DONE AROUND KOONDOOLA.

2) THINGS THAT YOU FEEL HAVE BEEN DONE BADLY OR SUB-STANDARDLY.

3)A WISH LIST. THIS WILL FOR THINGS THAT YOU FEEL COULD BE CHANGED FOR THE BETTER OR MADE MORE OPERATIONAL THAT COULD BE TURNED AROUND.

WE THANK SENATOR GRAHAM EDWARDS MP Member for Cowan FOR MAKING IT POSSIBLE TO GET OUR LETTER OUT, WHICH INCIDENTALLY IS GOING INTO THE ARCHIVES AT CITY OF WANNEROO | JOONDALUP LIBRARY FROM NOW ON.

VERGES DUE FOR ATTENTION

Now with my councillor's hat on a ratepayer came to me with a complaint about the council.  A worker knocked on her doo and told her that her verge did not comply with the by-laws and promptly took out his bobcat and levelled her landscaping.  Please be advised that council normally will give you two weeks to carry out any work required and that worker has been spoken to.  So that leaves the question: " what can I do with my verge?"  Well for a start you can't concrete it from end to end as some poor soul at the bottom of Koondoola may get flooded out.  The council is starting a  survey to find non-conforming verges.  Three people have been asked to fix their verges.  If you want to add hard surfaces, get a copy of the council sample plans.  If you do not see a plan which fits your requirements you can take in a sketch.  You do not need a permit but the rule of thumb is only about half the verge can be covered.  If the path is 1.8m from the kerb, you can pave between the path and the kerb.  Also you can widen the driveway.  An excellent example of combined paving and landscaping is at 89 Waddington Crescent so drive past and have a look.  Alan.
