NEXT MEETING

Tuesday the 6th June 2000 at 7.30PM

KOONDOOLA COMMUNITY HALL - BURBRIDGE AVENUE

REPORT FROM THE CHAIR

 The Bus Route

The latest date given to me for the new 377 bus route is the 18th of June.  Path Transit will be contacting me any day now so the group can have some input where the new bus stops will be placed.  They accept that local knowledge will be helpful.  Transport tell me the reason for the delay was that other changes were being made to the route.

Thanks Where It Is Due!

I had a phone call last week from a gentleman who claimed he wouldn't join the group as log as we thanked Graham Edwards for printing this.  Firstly let me say Graham prints if for us as a community service and he would do it for other community groups as well.  He also provides other facilities for us.  Secondly it would cost us about $3,600 a year to do it ourselves and with a budget of about $300.00 a year it should prove to be a real challenge.  Secondly print this for us and we'll put your name on it!  Thirdly let me state that there is no member of the committee who is a member of a political party.  I chalenge all Koondoola residents from all political walks to join up and make sure there is never any political bias in our group except to do what is good for the suburb and residents.

The Council Meeting

For thos people who are not getting the Thursday issue of the Wanneroo Community, Koondoola enjoyed a full page spread on the front about the Council coming to our suburb.  Thanks are due to Vern Parker our illustrious chef, Supa Value who supplied the food and New North who paid for it all.  Over a hundred visitors attended.  People came from Girrawheen, Alexander Ward, Wanneroo, Quinns and Two Rocks.  There was a deputation from Optus who wanted a tower on the Alexander Heights shops and some very interesting questions were asked by the local residents of Council.  I attended a workshop today to create a regional youth centre at Hainsworth Hall in Girrawheen.  Palnning should be finished by Junes.

WE THANK SENATOR GRAHAM EDWARDS MP Member for Cowan FOR MAKING IT POSSIBLE TO GET OUR LETTER OUT, WHICH INCIDENTALLY IS GOING INTO THE ARCHIVES AT CITY OF WANNEROO | JOONDALUP LIBRARY FROM NOW ON.

Report

Where to start, I guess the City of Wanneroo will have to be first with their Meeting, which was held on 9th May here in Koondoola, and by all accounts has been acclaimed by all as "successful".

I personally would like to thank all members who have contributed to the cause, thank you very much.

Now I am being told by the shire that they are expecting to do the annual-rubbish pick up towards the end of J-U-N-E, perhaps!

I wonder how many people are getting quite a bit fed up, really fed up with all the rubbish in our suburb and what are we going to do with it, I am open to suggestions!

It has even been pointed out to me that some people are so idle that they even are to lazy to bring their garbage bin down off the verge, preferring to leave it there all the time and walk there daily or what ever.  Do these people realise that that's against an existing health act and carries a hefty fine?  Now some of you are going to say why I keep on harping about it all the time, it's quite simple really, because in the last couple of weeks, me and Alan "The Councilor", have on four occasions had people ask us to come and have a look at how the neighbours RATS were running on top of fences and into their property.  I ask you quite seriously, are some of us living on top of a Rubbish Tip, or what?  Besides the shame factor, it is a health issue for everyone concerned!! And yes, we are going to do something about this disgrace.  We just can not sit and wait for the Shire or some one else to come along and clean our rubbish up, and for those who do sit waiting, don't squeal when it becomes expensive.

At our next SaferWA Meeting we are having the Regional Manager for Homes West and amongst other things I am going to try and get assurance from him for a greater accountability from their tenants because at present there are a lot of complaints which are blatantly being ignored.

The gentleman who keeps on ringing up in regard to where our letters get printed [you don't give your name, but we know which OFFICE it's coming from] if you should take Alan's offer up, there are three other suburbs who are at present thinking of forming similar groups to ours and they are looking for someone to print their news letters, so if you got another $28,800 to spare give me a call again to seal the deal!

As for our next Meeting, I would like to see some new ideas or gaols, also members bring a friend/neighbour as we need all the support we can get.

Ratepayers or Tenants who would like to have things change in Koondoola for better or worse, what better place to achieve it then with others at our Meeting.
