NEXT MEETING

Tuesday the 7th March 2000 at 7.30PM

KOONDOOLA COMMUNITY HALL - BURBRIDGE AVENUE

REPORT FROM THE CHAIR

 Action Speaks For Your Suburb!

I had cause to deal with a licensed valuer who has advised me that land values in Koondoola rose by 8.5% in the first  few months of last year.  This is a reflection of the refurbishment and a change in the way people are looking at our suburb.  Homeswest homes are selling as fast as they are finished and the prices are rising weekly.  First impressions count and we would encourage residents to consider something small they could do to improve the front yard and verge.

We Just Like To Watch!

For those of you in the community who have been wondering where the NEIGHBOURHOOD Watch has gone be assured that the NEIGHBOURHOOD is still doing it's job in a magnificent fashion.  There have been some administrative changes however.  We have been instructed by the Police that local ratepayers groups have to be completely separate from N. H. W. , even if we are members of both.  From now on N. H. W. meetings will be run on the first Tuesday of the month [immediately after the action group meeting.]  Burglaries are down from 20/week to 5/week following local arrests.

All the best for now  Alan.

Letter

I had a letter, which is self explanatory  and concerns Community,  here it is :-
Mercy Family Centre is the local Community Centre for the people of Koondoola and surrounding areas.  The Centre is the place to meet new people and get involved in the programs and activities created for the people by the people.

My name is Daphne and I am the Community Worker and it is my job to listen to the needs of the community and implement programs to fulfill those needs.  Some of the programs the community have asked for and are now up and running are the playgroups. arts and crafts, ADD support group and personal development sessions. One of the Centre's recent success stories was our three day camp which was held in early February, just after the Kids had all gone back to school.  A great time was had by all and they look forward to the next one.

Many of you may have known the Centre by it's former name as Koondoola NEIGHBOURHOOD Centre which was closed last year leaving a void in many peoples lives.

Luckily for the residents of Koondoola it was reopened as Mercy Family Centre and I invite all of you to come in, have a tea or coffee and experience the new way in which it operates, by the people for the people.

KRATAG Achievements [so far]

The Koondoola Ratepayers and Tenants Action Group acknowledge the support of the community in making these projects so immediately successful.  We intend to adopt a friendly but logical and firm approach in our future submissions.  I also wish to offer thanks to the voters who supported Joe Potter and myself in our campaigns for Wanneroo City Council.  Our first consideration is for the community in which we live.
