NEXT MEETING

Wednesday the 2nd May 7.30pm
At
Koondoola Community Hall

All KRATAG members and NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH members welcome.  [Rate payers and residents of Koondoola come and join.]

FROM THE CHAIR

It’s sad to say goodbye to faithful supporters but sometimes we have to accept facts.  Les from Nankivell Way was a great supporter of the group and has now made arrangements for his retirement.  Thanks Les for all your help, both from the Ratepayer’s group and the Neighbourhood Watch.  We will miss you.  I believe that Jim from Mirrabooka Avenue, also involved with N.H.W. plans to move on.  If you go Jim, we wish you well.

The City of Wanneroo Council voted unanimously to prosecute a truck driver in Koondoola who has ignored many requests from Council to comply with the provisions of the Town Planning Act.  Infringement notices have had no effect and now it’s off to court.

For those who have wondered what’s happened to the Neighbourhood watch, SGIO has withdrawn it’s sponsorship and we are not getting any newsletters.  Don’t despair however for all the NHW team is still active and we are all still watching!

Incidentally the Police have decided that all street reps need to have photos on their I.D. badges and they are about to begin the process of inviting about 10,000 into Joondalup station to have their mugshot.

I saw a young chap sitting on the fence at Shelvock Park get up to do a drug deal with a passing car and sit down to wait for the next one.  If you see anything like that, get the licence no. as you pass and call the Police.

PUBLIC MEETING

The City of Wanneroo have commissioned Taylor Burrell

Planning Consultants to undertake an urban design project investigation in consultation with the community for the Koondoola Shopping Precinct.  Allowance has been made in the brief for two meetings with a 'local reference group', (THAT’S US – ed.) two public workshops and two reporting sessions to the Safer Citizens Advisory Group.  The first workshop is proposed on Wednesday, 16 May from 6 - 10pm at the Koondoola Community Hall.  In the week prior to the community meeting there will be a youth consultation programme run by community artists and performers at the shops.  The public are invited to attend the workshop.

At a meeting at Wanneroo at which residents shop owners and Councillors were represented, it was decided to investigate ways under the Safer Citizens Programme to make the shops safer for the public.  We all stand to benefit from this so come along.

Hands up if you have discovered how much your house has improved in value lately.  Try 25% increase in the last three years.  (But who wants to leave anyway.)  Koondoola has a great future.

Did you notice the 36 rails, 29 posts and a section of fence replaced quietly by the Council in the open space WITH YOUR RATES?  We have been asking them since November to put in a break as required in their own local laws.  I bet they have a little trouble getting insurance!  The C.E.O. has been emailed about it some time ago but for some reason KRATAG has had no answer.

FROM THE EDITOR -
Best Wishes Hazel

Thanks to an improved public perception in our community and market value Hazel Seelander recently placed her home on the market.  She has already acquired a buyer and will be leaving us in the near future.  We thank you Hazel for your contribution to our community and I’m sure the new owner will find Koondoola a pleasant place to live.

Remember last time when everybody put their rubbish out four months early and Vern Parker took you all to task?  Well it’s nearly time now and you’ve been very good.  Congratulations on your restraint and if you check your Wanneroo Times you can start any day now.  GO FOR IT!
