Windswept Journey
Oft to wander down wet winding windswept roads
Modern societies veins cast endless bucket loads
Broad vast freeways crisscross circumspect terrain
Many fold highways interconnect with little refrain
Drizzle of darkness falls during day
Gushing onward towards the suns ray
Lost to populace as we all hurtle by
Hurrying scurrying home to find dry
Brick conquered landscapes mix with the eye
No time to notice lest we all cry
Far from the beauty of countryside lane
Bushland appeasement could be close disdain
Brave to be driving out of the town
Rather than circling round and around
Heedless to obstruction put in our way
Drive further outward to where we can play
Amongst the mansions of natures own trees
Perhaps even following a few tiny bees
Stop for a moment look at branches leafed
Children your future we have bequeathed
Paddocks of pasture low flat lined with the sky
Takes us a whirling heavily floating way up on high
Thundering down back to earth in the city
Maybe we have to force a dance or a ditty
Monuments raised to many a mans memory
Some though they last such are the reasons temporary
Lasting for lifetime are rivers of joy
Winding through properties catch the new toy
Back to the jungle we whisk ourselves clever
Yes we must enter the normal surrounds never
Calling us constantly cuddling and cute
Oh for the days of workhorse the ute
Not so good on the clouded overcast days
Never a choice but to stick to our ways
Home of the in doors while outward it pours
Better the sleeping with loud ugly snores
Whisper goodbye now for passing has come
Bringing a longing to move back for some
Light hearted yearning of days gone now forever
Memory can return us to brave frontiers terror
