A Story about Life comes Home to remind Us we exist !...
Life comes Home...
Well is that not the truth we have had a interesting few weeks around this part of the world that is Perth in Western Australia. Overseas we have had the committing of our armed forces along with our allies to the peacekeeping duties in East Timor along with its many associated concerns of families who have there loved ones in these dangerous circumstances. Locally we have had a recent series of events that would be astounding bar for the fact that it appears to be coming more common.
A Dr went to do a house call and the full details are not yet known but a 75 year old man allegedly shot the Dr three times at close range twice in the head and once in the upper chest causing his death. A young boy of 15-16 was helping his uncle during the school holidays with tree clearing using a very powerful piece of machinery for mulching the branches, well apparently he may of become entangled with a branch and was dragged into the machinery causing his death. Another young boy 15 was taking a shower during recent bad weather when a power pole outside in the general locality was brought down causing 11,000 volts of electricity to penetrate the house into the bathroom causing an electrical shock to the boy, fortunately in this instance the boy although severely injured and currently in hospital has survived the experience.
I guess the point here is as shocking as all the above may sound is that for so many terrible things to happen in just such a short time it does make one sit and and think even realize that we are all vulnerable no matter where we may be or in what situation we may find ourselves. The world or society in general has a habit of telling us that we have a multitude of new ways and means of meeting our end. But in the long run that does not stop us from leading our lives as normal day to day events take place with a positive outlook, otherwise we would become stagnant come to a complete holt and achieve nothing.
Thank goodness that our minds and bodies are able to overcome the horror of the current world and hopefully we look to the joys and happiness of the moment while taking some care to the future. That is to say that although we need to be aware and take notice of happenings that surround us from day to day we must also take care not to let these events cripple our way of thinking so that we become so stifled as to not be able to operate in a normal manner.
Hence we are fortunate as part of the human race with our associated mental and emotional makeup to be able to adapt to the modern way of life with mixed feelings but ones that we moderate with clear thinking a constant outlook that the future still holds great promise and whether we be here tomorrow or not we can make the most of the present.
