 ***Favourite Things***

A sense of place of belonging is often established by favourite things an identification with what we find comfortable. I guess it contributes to keeping order in our lives and in the world. Highlights can be part of our favourite things and to reminisce about them by putting them in hard copy also helps to create that safe zone and area where we feel warm comfy at home...

A Story about a Trip to Cue Western Australia...

Trip to Cue...
Trip to Cue Western Australia Cont'd...

There were hordes of people in town for the birthday party being a small town nearly everybody bar the barmaid of the hotel and the local police were all to attend at the huge hall that they have there a lot of people who where coming to the party work on what we call Stations bit like your ranches but huge places and of course when they come into town they like to let loose a little so by 12 noon there was already a little drinking party going on outside of the Birthday boys house which went on until about 4.30pm then my brother in law and myself went to visit some inland lakes some 20km out of town very shallow but still with plenty of water for this time of the year and then back to get ready for the party which was supposed to start at about 6.30pm well everybody was there by then except for the birthday boy himself who didn't turn up till about 8.30pm.

Hordes or people and kids everywhere and a DJ providing the music with a huge spread of food which by the way was consumed within about 30 minutes flat and that included two goats that had been spit roasted for the occasion. Well not being a big drinker these days and having already consumed a fair bit on the afternoon pre party I only had a few Beers during the night which turn out that the party did not finish till about 3.30am the next morning we left about 1.45am . There was a small disturbance around 11pm when the three kegs of beer and the rubbish of punch started to run low so a hat around the group with an appropriate announcement from the stage plus a contribution from the wife of the birthday boy produce enough money to purchase the fourth keg which must of kept them going.

Country people are both big eaters and big drinkers hee hee!! So a good nights sleep and up to say goodbye to the birthday boy and we leave for Perth about midday taking a slower trip home to be on the safe side but we did stop at a place called the Granites which are very large formations of Granite rock in fact it is land owned by the Aboriginal people up that way a very interesting place some of the formations are quite hollowed out into very strange shapes a lot of caves as well some of which contain Aboriginal art. Back on the road and off to Perth no trouble on the way home dropped off brother in-law and his wife and then on way to pick up ours tribe of kids which were scattered at various locations in Perth and as we are heading to the first pick up we go thru a speed camera don't know if ya know what they are but it takes a picture of the car if you are doing over a certain speed and then they send a fine to the car owner well I wasn't driving this time the wife was but still that will be probably about a $100 fine but we did manage to pick up all the kids and get back home and settled down again by about 10.30pm on the Sunday night So all is well that ends well .
Now there are two things you can do with this story read and think gee!! maybe sometimes things are not so bad and also remember even if ya prepare for a trip and think ya take all the precautions think again cause ya probably haven't . Hope you Folks get a laugh out of this one anyway then it will have been well worth the telling . Stu!!
